A quick reference for what to do, and in what order, from setting up until the end of a Round. Click a term for its rule.
Before the Game
1. Build an Army: within the points limit, choose one Warlord and a Warband for each Character (Mainstay and Restricted choices, plus upgrades).
2. Set Up the Battlefield: prepare a Battlefield of the size the Scenario sets and place Terrain.
3. Assign Characters: before the first Reinforcement Phase, place each Character in an eligible Regiment of the same Type from their Warband.
Round Sequence
| Phase | What happens |
|---|---|
| I. Reinforcement Phase | Roll for Regiments and Characters not yet on the Battlefield. |
| II. Command Phase | Both Players build their Command Stacks simultaneously. |
| III. Supremacy Phase | Roll Off to decide the First Player. |
| IV. Action Phase | Starting with the First Player, take turns Activating the top card of your Command Stack. |
| V. Victory Phase | Check the Scenario's Victory Conditions. If nobody has won, a new Round begins. |
One Activation in the Action Phase
1. Reveal the top card of your Command Stack and Activate that Regiment or Character.
2. Choose whether to resolve a Draw Event.
3. Take up to two Actions.
- Out-of-Combat Actions (not in contact): March, Charge, Take Aim, Rally, Reform, Volley, Pass
- Combat Actions (in contact): Clash, Combat Rally, Combat Reform, Inspire, Withdraw, Pass
4. After a Character's Activation you may check for an Entourage Activation.
Resolving Attacks (Clash and Volley)
1. Target: check Line of Sight, range and facing.
2. Roll to Hit: a roll equal to or under Clash or Volley is a Hit.
3. Defense Roll: the opponent saves on a roll equal to or under Defense or Evasion.
4. Allocate Wounds: failed saves go into the Wound Pool and are allocated to Stands in order.
5. Remove Casualties: a Stand whose Wounds equal its Wounds Characteristic is removed.
6. Test Morale: roll one die per Wound suffered; each roll over Resolve inflicts one more Wound.
When the Round Ends
Check the Scenario's Victory Conditions in the Victory Phase. If nobody has won, a new Round begins from the Reinforcement Phase.
